Exploring the largest sandy island in the world

An island possesses the rainforests, huge sand dunes and the biodiversity of wild flora and fauna.
 
Fraser island is located along the southern coast of Queensland, Australia. It is the world’s largest sandy island with an area of 1.840 km2. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1992.
 
 
Being covered by the beaches and sand dunes, the island has a length ofc12 km and around 24 km in width.
 
 
People began to live on Fraser Island around 5000 years ago. The explorer James Cook passed by this island in May 1770 .
 
 
Just stepped on the island, visitors can immediately see the bushes growing in arc shape strangely on the sand dunes.
 
 
This is the Arch hill with a bright red color which is characteristic of the sand (which contains tannins). Some dunes here can reach at over 200m. Moreover, the sand on Fraser island is extremely fertile, plants grow very lush.
 
 
From the sandy highway of Seventy-Five Mile Beach on is an area just for four wheel drive. Here, there are hundreds of sandy trails joining lakes, tropical forests and other natural landscapes.
 
To look down from above, visitors can rent a plane for sightseeing at Cathedral Beach, Happy Valley and Orchid Beach.

Fraser Island is the place for many mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Saltwater crocodiles also live here.
 
 
Cooloolensis Litoria is a frog which is capable of living in high-acidity water. It is one of the rare frog species on the island.
